We booked our tour to Cappadoccia, Pamukkale and Ephesus online with Banu of TourofIstanbul. Banu had been most helpful and accomodating, right from day one. He tailored the tour to suit our needs, responding to our requests and amendments tirelessly and promptly, even outside his working hours. He impressed us with his enthusiasm and efficiency. We even met up for coffee and it was a such a pleasure to chat with Banu in person. Tourofistanbul were very punctual, and the hotels provided were 5 star. We were even upgraded to a suite in a cave hotel in Cappadoccia. Meals were very good too, both local n Western cuisine, with plenty to eat. The buses were very new n comfortable with only small group of tourists. We were even upgraded to a private tour in Ephesus on the last day. All the tour guides were very qualified and professional too. The tour went so smoothly that all we had to do was just sit back and enjoy our holiday. We had an awesome time. If you're going to Turkey, Banu of Tour of Istanbul is the best contact to go to. — Li Li W, South Africa
Being a New Zealand woman in my sixties travelling solo and having wanted to travel to Turkey for many years I took a gamble on a tour company found online Gee whizz did I hit the jackpot ! I had a wish list of where I wanted to go and what I wanted to see in Turkey but I had to slot it in between tours to Egypt and Greece that had already been booked This was no problem for Tour Of Istanbul company. All organized thru emails and one phone call from Volkan Yı. Customized just for me and at a competitive price. A deposit was paid and the balance paid after my arrival in Turkey. My sightseeing included a Bosphorus Cruise....Istanbul Old City Tour....then a flight to see the hot springs and terraces at Pamukkale .....next Ephesus.....another flight to Cappadocia (accommodation in a CAVE hotel....absolutely wonderful ) A Hot Air Balloon Ride had been booked but the weather didn't play the game so this hasn't been crossed off my bucket list! The rock formations is something I'll never forget seeing...then another flight back to Istanbul and the following day I was off to Gallipoli There was a slight hic up with my first transfer but this was quickly rectified....so no drama. All the sightseeing tours were great with wonderful friendly English speaking guides...the accommodation was first class and I mean first class....close to restaurants and bars...... tourist attractions and convenience stores. If you are thinking about a trip to Turkey and want a hassle free great customized holiday that you'll remember forever contact Volkan at Tour of Istanbul.... — J. Toshar, New Zealand
We selected Turkey as a destination and had sent a casual mail to them to discuss the itinerary. Volkan called me up and then over the next 3 months we discussed our itinerary over mails and phones. Mr Volkan painstakingly customized it to suit it to ALL our whimz and fancies. He even assisted our visa procuring process. As we embarked upon the tour, we got fantastic hotels, awesome guides and very comfortable transits. The entertainments were amazing. All our 8 days were fun filled. Thank you Volkan!! 🙏🏼🙌🏼 — R. We had a great trip in Turkey a. The tour, hotel and food was great. Mr Volkan planned everything for us. Most of the hotels are in a very good location, easy to move around ourselves. Highly recommended to contact Mr Volkan if you plan to go to turkey and have no idea about where to go and what to do. 2 of their guides Mr Hafiz in Cappadocia and Ms Nafia was a great guide. In overall, we enjoyed our trip so much. Tx Volkan and Tour of Istanbul team. 🙏🏼 .— H.G. Singapure
With limited days outside of Istanbul, I randomly selected a tour company from "google". Mrs Banu from Tour of Istanbul responded almost immediately. I outlined what I was looking for and he gave me various options. I detailed our specific requirements and Mrs Banu immediately responded with the perfect package to offer us the best of Turkey in a limited time frame at an exceptionally good price. Their service was absolutely faultless, with drivers arriving promptly to collect us, and deliver us back to our hotel, even for very early pick up times for flights. The tours themselves were well organised, informative and well thought out. The meals that were included each day were typical Turkish fare and very enjoyable. We had four different guides on each of the four days of our tour but the two guides that really stood out for us as being extremely warm, friendly and very informative about were Nafia for our Ephesus tour day and Mostapha for our final day in Cappadochia including the underground city etc. We would love to return to Turkey one day and I would have absolutely no hesitation in contacting Tour of Istanbul team for all of our travel/tour requirements. Their all round service was absolutely outstanding. Exceptional Service! Highly recommended. —Lynne V. South Africa
Amazing Sites, Slightly Rushed: The itinerary was jam-packed, which meant we got to see all the major sites, but it did feel a little rushed at times. That said, the tour delivered an incredible experience with wonderful guides, and the hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia was the trip’s highlight!
Perfect Tour for First-Time Visitors This was our first trip to Turkey, and this tour was the ideal introduction. We visited all the iconic spots, from Hagia Sophia to Göreme. Everything was well-organized, and we felt completely immersed in Turkey’s history and culture. Highly recommend this tour for first-timers!
What to know
Here are some things to know before traveling:
1. Visa: Depending on your nationality, you may need a visa to enter Turkey. You can check the requirements and apply for a visa online or at the Turkish embassy or consulate in your country.
2. Currency: The local currency is the Turkish lira (TRY). You can exchange your currency at banks or exchange offices, or withdraw money from ATMs using your debit or credit card. It's a good idea to inform your bank before traveling to Turkey to avoid any issues with your card.
3. Weather: Turkey has a varied climate, so it's important to check the weather forecast before you travel. In general, the summer months (June to September) are hot and dry, while the winter months (December to February) are cold and wet.
4. Language: The official language of Turkey is Turkish, but many people speak English, especially in tourist areas.
5. Culture: Turkey is a Muslim country, so it's important to respect local customs and traditions. Dress modestly, especially when visiting mosques or religious sites, and remove your shoes before entering. It's also polite to greet people with "Merhaba" (hello) and "Tesekkür ederim" (thank you).
6. Safety: Turkey is generally a safe country for travelers, but it's important to take the usual precautions. Keep an eye on your belongings, especially in crowded areas, and be wary of scams and pickpockets. It's also a good idea to avoid demonstrations and political gatherings.
During our trip to Turkey, we had planned to visit Cappadocia region, Ephesus, and Pamukkale. A friend in Istanbul had suggested to go through a travel company and recommend Tour of Istanbul. As time was short, I wrote to Chuck Militello with a brief plan of our proposed visit, and in 2 days we had agreed on a detailed plan which included air-transfers, airport pick-up & drop, hotel bookings, and daily sight-seeing tours. The entire program went smoothly. The airport pick-up guys waited patiently & politely despite two cases of late-night flight delays. The hotels suggested by Chuck were commendable, and the daily sight-seeing tours were planned & conducted very professionally. — L. Hemantn, Australia
